Early Childhood Screening

This past week we took Jack to his early childhood screening. He was so excited about getting to spend time with mom and dad alone! He had his height, weight, hearing and vision checked. He was so funny during the hearing screening--so focused! After that, they took him to do his developmental screening. It seemed like it was taking forever but after about 15-20mins, the teacher brought him out. She kept telling us that she was really impressed and that he did a really, really good job! I was pretty proud of him! The teacher even was shocked that he pushed his chair in at the end--she said that no one ever does that. Finally we went to go through the exit interview. Jack actually really did very well. He needed a 14 and got a 23 on the developmental screening. The teacher doing the exit kept telling us that they rarely ever see that in a younger three year old. I think both Ryan and I were pretty proud of our little guy :)
This screening was helpful for both of us to make a few decisions regarding Jack starting preschool next year. Since he has a July birthday we always go back and forth with if he will start school at 5 or wait another year. Now, we feel like at this point, he will be ready. So, next year, Jack will be (hopefully-if we get in) going to a 4K program through a Christian school in the area. It is a great program and it is run just like kindergarten is--two days a week, all day. He will even get to ride the bus to daycare in the afternoon. He already cannot wait as he asks me about school every since day!
