glucose test

Hi Everyone! Hope you all had a great weekend! Ryan and I spent the majority of the weekend indoors as it was below zero again! We did get out on Sat for a "date day!" We went and saw the movie Gran Torino and then went grocery shopping! What a date :) The movie was REALLY good. I was surprised how much I liked it but I wasn't surprised that Ryan loved the movie! Yesterday we finally finished cleaning out the baby's room! Everything is moved except the bed and dresser that I can't help Ryan lift. Now all we have to do is take down the wallpaper (Bald Eagle themed) and paint! YAY! I think we are going to wait until we find out if we are having a boy or girl to decided on colors.

We also spent the weekend discussing our dog issue. Ryan has been keeping the shock collar on Duke all the time and using it as needed. On Sat night we were inside again when Duke decided to attack Rosco. He really attacked him. Duke had Rosco pinned up against the bar. Ryan was over there in 2 seconds and pulled Duke off of Rosco and threw him! I was ready to call the Humane Society right there. This was the first time that Duke really pinned Rosco and wouldn't let him go. I agreed to let Ryan work with him a little longer but if Duke does it again, he is gone. We just can't risk him turning on someone elses dog or a child! Not only would I feel horrible, I really don't want to get sued. So, the saga continues--hopefully we can figure something out.

This morning I headed to the clinic again for another test. Due to everything that has been going on, my doctor wanted to have me checked for gestational diabetes early. Usually the test is done at 28-30 weeks. I had my blood sugar tested and then it was on to the glucose/sugar drink. After fasting for over 12 hrs, I was not very excited about this part. For anyone that hasn't had the pleasure of experiencing this, I thought I would describe what it tastes like :) I had a choice between orange flavored or lemon lime. Since it was 7:15 in the morning, I went with the orange! The lab women poured it into the cup and it was thick! I was already gagging! So, I had 3 mins to drink--bottoms up! It really wasnt as bad as I thought it was going to be but it tasted like really flat, orange pop that happened to be extra sugary and thick! I had to sit in the waiting room for 2hrs and then they drew my blood again. I passed with flying colors. They wanted my blood sugar to be less then 140 after 2hrs and mine was 105! Finally, a test I passed with flying colors! I think the baby was on a sugar high because I haven't felt him/her move around more then I did this morning. :)

I still haven't decided on the job change yet. Ryan and I talked about it all weekend long and I am still very undecided! I wish someone would just tell me what to do :) I have until Wed to let Childrens know my decision. I will for sure go back to casual status there and work 2 shifts a month for some extra money. Plus, it will get my foot back in the door again in case I ever really need a job there.
