I have been meaning to write this post for the last few days but as you know life gets in the way! Anyways, as most of all of your know we welcomed our newest family member on Monday, May 23rd--Lydia Margurite was born at 9:22am weighing in at 8lbs 2 oz and 20 1/2 inches long! I cannot believe how big of a difference being prepared for a c-section made in her delivery. I had been having lots of contractions and at my last OB check the week before I was dilated to a 3--yes, a 3!! and effaced to about 70%--my Ob figured I wouldn't make it though the weekend but I held on and ended up having my scheduled c-section. It was really fun not telling people the date and not knowing whether she was a girl or a boy! Up until delivery I was still going back and forth between girl or boy! My c-section went get, I was able to let the nurses and my OB know what I really wanted. I had NO IV pains meds, not even any in my spinal! I was able to actually hold onto Lydia for a bit and when they were done she came right into the room with me so we were only apart for 45mins! Ryan and I had a good 4 hrs alone with her before our first visitor showed up so it was a very relaxing and good bonding time. (Also a good time to figure out a name!) Jack has been SO good with her. Of course he needs to be reminded to be gentle but he wants to hold her and rock her. He has been sharing his blankey with her and making sure she is covered--such a good and proud big brother! I am sure there will be some trying times but he is doing so well right now!
