FREEZING and Dogs

Hey Everyone! For those of you that no longer live in Minnesota, it is FREEZING here. This morning my car said -27 obviously not including the wind chill. I would say that 97% of the time, I absolutely love this state but the past few days, I have wished that we would have just stayed in Hawaii when we had the chance. The cold doesn't bug Ryan, in fact he continues to state that he LOVES it. I haven't asked him this morning yet if he still is loving the cold since I could hear him having trouble starting his car.....maybe that changed his mind! It was so cold that even when I went to put the dogs in their kennel this morning they looked at me like I was insane. I had to resort to some bribing techniques to get them both to the kennel!

Speaking of the dogs, we have been having some troubles with them. Duke has always been the more dominate dog and Rosco has always been very submissive. Yesterday morning, I looked out to find that Duke was not letting Rosco into the "dog house." He was literally attacking the poor dog! There have been a few other episodes of Duke snapping at Rosco....so, I finally called the vet. Being that they are both fixed and Rosco always backs down to Duke, the vet had little advice-which was frustrating! She did ask if there were new family members. So, I did tell her that we are expecting in a few months. She actually thinks that Duke can sense this and he is lashing out! So, she wants us to start preparing him for the baby. She wants us the play movies with babies crying and for Ryan and I to carry around stuffed animals, like were are carrying around a baby!! Like I don't feel crazy enough most of the time. SO, we are going to try that. If that doesn't work, we are going to have to foot the bill for Duke to be sent to naughty dog school! Ryan thinks that it would help to just give Rosco away which I am not going to do. My biggest concern is what Duke would do to a child if they make him mad! So, we will see if this "preparing" will work for him or its off to school for him.

We have yet to start cleaning the baby's room! It seems like whenever we plan on doing something, we end up getting busy with other stuff. I am really going to start tonight :)

I thought I would add a picture of our dogs actually getting along!

  1. Man, animals...then you look at the pic and they look so sweet! Maybe Duke is just pissed cause it hurts to breathe outside! Spring might make him a better doggy ;)
